JAKE FAAS

My interest in dogs started when I was very young. By the time I was in elementary school, I had memorized three dog encyclopedias; I knew every breed and what each breed had been bred for. Since then, my passion and interest has grown, and developed into a greater interest to understand and articulate the connection between dogs and humans. I am a dog nerd through and through!

In middle school I started volunteering to walk dogs at the Goodhue County Humane Society, and in my senior year of high school I began fostering dogs through Twin Cities Pet Rescue. I wanted to learn and get my hands on as many dogs as I could.

After high school I attended The Art Institute International (AI) of Minnesota in Minneapolis. During my time at AI I worked at the Golden Valley Humane Society; this is where I learned how to handle and take care of dogs in a professional setting. In addition to full time studies and a job at the Human Society, I started my own dog walking business. I would handle a group of 10-15 dogs at a time. This season really put my novice dog-training skills to the test!

In 2013 I started training dogs professionally for The Canine Coach. I taught a variety of classes, conducted in-home training, and managed their boot camp program for several years. I learned so much during my time there. I found out I had the best results working within peoples homes. That is often where the dog felt the most comfortable and where the majority of behaviors stemmed from.
Outside of helping and working with other peoples dogs I really enjoy competing and trialing with my own personal dogs. This helps me refine my skills as a trainer being able to train a dog to a certain level. It also helps me learn and progress with different training styles. I’ve had the pleasure to be mentored by some of the best dog trainers in the country, I would not be where I am today without them!
Since my last day at The Canine Coach in 2019, I have been building the inner-workings of True Loyalty, a company that represents myself and values. My goal is to be able to use my experience to tailor the training to the person's wants and their dogs needs, to have a simple approach work within their lifestyle.
Let’s get to work!
